The Doheny Memorial Library is a five-story, 1931 Northern Italian Romanesque-style building eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The historic, hand-painted ceiling in the reference room was painstakingly cleaned and retouched; while rich marbles, stained glass, travertine, and iron fixtures were prudently protected throughout earthquake repair, structural strengthening, and modernization work. Preconstruction services on this project led to its early and within-budget completion, with no change orders. This project won the Los Angeles Conservancy Award for Historic Preservation, as well as the California Preservation Foundation Design Award for Restoration.
