The UCSD Living & Learning project is the largest complex built on campus to date. This 10-acre, $627 million mixed-use neighborhood includes housing for 2,000 students; academic towers for social science, arts, and humanities; parking; restaurant and retail space; and outdoor amenities. The LEED Platinum project is the new home of UCSD’s Sixth College.

Morley provided concrete subcontracting services for the project consisting of four Type 1L cast-in-place structures and a 600,000-square-foot, 3-level subterranean parking garage with 1,200 spaces. The Arts & Humanities Building is an 11-story academic tower consisting of mild steel rebar, 40-foot-tall round exposed columns, and cast-in-place bridge. The Social Sciences Public Engagement Building is a 14-story residential and academic tower with a skewed structure, post-tensioned rebar, 60-foot-tall columns, cast-in-place architectural columns, walls, and decks, and polished concrete floors. The Craft Center & Community Building, a 7-story mixed-use structure featuring academic and residential spaces, retail/entertainment, and a dining hall, consists of partial post-tensioned and mild steel rebar. The 2-story, 600-seat Auditorium features concrete over metal stud framing with steel-encased columns. Architectural concrete is featured predominately throughout all buildings.
