The fourth phase of UC Irvine’s multi-phase East Campus development, Plaza Verde is a student housing community consisting of a five-story, Type III building with 410 units ranging from one- to four-bedroom apartments totaling 1,441 beds. The three-story, concrete community center features multi-purpose space, a fitness center, leasing offices, Internet cafe, and study rooms. Outdoor amenities include multiple courtyards containing decorative hardscape, barbecue area, study cabanas, and bicycle parking. The five-story parking structure provides 532 parking spaces, a maintenance office, bike hub, 906 bicycle spaces, and features an intricate exterior aluminum skin.
The LEED Gold project is University of California’s first Zero-Net Energy operation. The community operates on an all-electric system and a 1.4-megawatt photovoltaic array atop the parking structure offsets the annual energy usage of the building.
