Morley Construction Company provided structural concrete services for SoFi Stadium, the largest and most expensive NFL stadium ever built. Home to the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, the 70,000-seat stadium spans more than 3 million square feet and includes a 5,000-seat performance venue for concerts and events. The seating bowl is divided into five tiers and numerous hospitality balconies. Because of its proximity to LAX, the field is located 100 feet below street level.
Morley installed over 76,000 cubic yards of structural concrete on the project, with over 2.1 million square feet of slab-on-grade and slab-on-metal-deck work put in place. Concrete work started from the ground up, installing over 550 pile caps and 1,100 tie beams that make up the bowl’s structural foundation system. Morley placed over six miles of concrete curbs and numerous MEP pads, along with various additional foundations and cast-in-place walls outside the bowl structure from the cooling tower building, 365 building, mechanical exhaust shaft, and several large pedestrian entry stairways. Due to the massive amount of concrete required, an onsite batch plant was utilized. Over 150 skilled concrete tradespeople were required at the height of construction.
