Home to the San Diego Padres, Petco Park is a 42,000-seat stadium constructed of cast-in-place concrete, precast concrete, and structural steel. Morley Construction Company provided concrete subcontracting services for the project, placing 65,000 cubic yards of concrete for foundations, slab-on-grade, raker beams, and elevated decks. Morley’s scope of work also included a major seismic renovation to the existing Western Metals Supply building.
The ballpark was designed with irregular angles traversing around the bowl for fans to directly view the infield. To combat potential construction conflicts, Morley used state-of-the-art layout software which computed coordinates accurate to within one one-hundredth of an inch. Over 130 skilled concrete tradespeople were required at the height of construction.
