Morley Construction Company provided concrete subcontracting services for the new Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility. The project consolidates more than 20 various rental car locations in and around the airport into one facility conveniently located next to the 405 freeway to create a more streamlined experience for customers renting cars at LAX, while helping to reduce traffic in the area by removing all rental car vehicles from the roadways. Comprising approximately 6.3 million square feet, the LAX ConRAC facility is the largest rental car facility ever built and will connect to LAX’s Central Terminal Area via an Automated People Mover (APM) train system.
Morley provided 220,000 cubic yards of cast-in-place concrete for the Ready-Return/Idle Storage structure, a five-level, 5.6 million-square-foot garage consisting of 6,600 ready-return stalls, 10,000 idle storage stalls, and seven underground corridors for pedestrian egress. The fifth level includes a rooftop courtyard, customer service buildings, and a platform to receive termination of the APM. The project is targeting LEED Gold certification.
