On a former brownfield site shared between unincorporated Los Angeles County and the City of Compton, Casa Dominguez is an affordable multifamily and service-oriented development featuring 70 units in two, Type V buildings with 120 surface parking spaces. Amenities include computer rooms, community rooms, childcare center, healthcare clinic, parent resource center, communal laundry, and landscaped courtyards. This project is the first in Los Angeles County and the second in the State of California to receive a LEED for Homes Platinum certification. Sustainability highlights include a greywater and ground-source heat system, as well as formaldehyde-free cabinetry, low-VOC paints, and recycled carpets.
Morley’s careful trade purchasing created project savings, which resulted in the owner’s ability to implement additional sustainable design measures. This teamwork approach led to the project’s completion six weeks ahead of schedule.
